The approachability of the text and relevant case studies will leave students with the tools needed to understand and analyse international events. They will find it challenging and rewarding in equal measure. Gnter Walzenbach is a Senior Lecturer in European Politics at the University of the West of England, Bristol (UWE Bristol). It is usually contrasted with idealism or liberalism, which tends to emphasize cooperation. McGlitchys volume is comprehensive thematically, but certain sections would have benefited from deeper and more sustained analysis, for instance in the section on International Relations Theory.
